Our HIMF detox weekends have been a big success this year – almost every month of the year has seen a group head down to the Mornington Peninsula to learn about healthy eating and be put through their paces during various fitness sessions. Coming into the warmer weather, more and more people are asking “what exactly happens on these weekends?” and “what will I get from doing one”….
The detox weekends offer everyone something different.
For the person who wants to lose a bit of weight and kick start their fitness routine, the weekend is a chance to challenge your body with various fitness sessions (beach walks, bootcamp, boxing, yoga, pilates), learn how far you can push yourself physically, and learn some great, simple recipes to cook at home to help you continue the detox experience.
Some people go to get back on track with their health. A few days where there’s no chocolate, no coffee and no alcohol to tempt them may be all they need to get back on track and know they can survive on healthy, natural foods, without the vices they are in the habit of leaning on to get through the day.
Those who have returned several times throughout the year have enjoyed variety in their meal options (we aim to change things up every time), so have walked away with something new each time. They also tend to enjoy that time to themselves- a chance to focus solely on their needs and not those of their family, their job or their friends. It’s a chance to be a better version of themselves, so they can return to day to day life with a fresh, happy perspective. A healthy person is always a happier person.
There is so much to gain from attending one of these weekends-if you’re thinking about it, stop thinking, and just do it. You won’t regret it 🙂
